This is an important and inspiring Ted Talk that I couldn’t agree with more. “We’re raising our girls to be perfect, and we’re raising our boys to be brave” says Reshya Saujani the founder of Girls Who Code, a non profit that aims to initiate young women into the tech world. At Girl Nation we teach our girls to be brave and take risks and empower them to be the best version of themselves. Part of being brave is learning to be comfortable with imperfection and to persevere and pursue dreams in spite of possible failure. We have to undo the socialization of perfection that girls are taught at an early age. Our society is losing out if we don’t raise our girls to be brave.
